A serial entrepreneur and Harvard-educated lawyer, Robin Shapiro left a big-firm law practice to pursue and pioneer the great idea of buying lottery prizes, annuities, and jackpot awards—paying winners millions in upfront cash in exchange for awards paid out over decades. Using personal savings to hire a handful of co-workers laid-off in a corporate downsizing, he built his business as a start-up, directing every aspect of the growing enterprise, including product design, pricing, staff development, lobbying, and marketing. By 2012, his company had purchased nearly $1.5 billion in consumer receivables, issued hundreds of millions in bonds, and was spending more than a million dollars per month on direct-response marketing. In 2014, after selling a controlling stake, Robin turned his focus to his next great idea – making it easy for consumers to respond to ads by "text” even when the time isn’t right for a phone call. An easy-recall “mnemonic” short-code (“TODAY” or “RADIO”) is used in the call-to-action, meaning more leads for the same media dollars. Stiki is TCPA-compliant because the texting is always consumer-initiated and consumer-controlled.
Robin Shapiro will present Why Brands Are Putting Mobile in the Driver’s Seat on September 13, 9:45 AM-10:45 AM.
